TOPEKA (KSNT) – People will be able to give their personal comments on an Evergy proposal to raise energy costs for Kansans.
The Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) said it will be holding public hearings in Wichita and Topeka starting next week to inform customers of Evergy Kansas Central about the energy company’s request to raise rates. People will also be able to ask questions and make comments in front of the KCC during these meetings.
Evergy applied with the KCC in January this year for a $196.4 million, or 8.62%, rate increase. If the proposal is approved as-is, the new electric rates would take hold in September 2025. Residential customers could see an average monthly increase of $13.05.
