TOPEKA (KSNT) – A driving school that was founded by top fuel drag racers will offer free training to teenagers later this month.
Be Responsible and Keep Everyone Safe (B.R.A.K.E.S.) will hold a teen driving school in partnership with the Kansas Department of Transportation and the AAA Club Alliance on June 21-22. Participants will learn the importance of safe and responsible driving and receive instruction from professional trainers, including law enforcement officers and professional racing drivers.
Students will learn about distracted driving awareness, panic braking, crash avoidance, drop-wheel/off-road recovery and car control and skid recovery.

More than 150,000 teens and parents have received training under the program over the last 16 years, according to a press release from B.R.A.K.E.S. Teens who graduate under the program are 64% less likely to be in a car crash for three years after the training.
Training sessions will be held:
- Saturday, June 21.
- Classes start at 8 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.
- Sunday, June 22.
- Classes start at 8 a.m. and noon.
