TOPEKA (KSNT) – Work on a new tiger exhibit is officially underway at the Topeka Zoo. The zoo held a groundbreaking Tuesday morning for the new Tiger Trails and Den Academy.
It will give people an up-close look at the zoo’s Sumatran tigers and King Vultures.
“This new experience is going to be all about tigers’ conservation,” Christina Castellano, CEO of the Topeka Zoo, said. “But something that’s really exciting is that we’re incorporating a science-based lab for kids to learn about how to care for them, feed them, and really support overall well-being for tigers.”
The main sponsors for the exhibit are Mark and Bette Morris. The new exhibit is set to open next June.
