TOPEKA (KSNT) – August is Asian Elephant Awareness Month. To celebrate, the Topeka Zoo is auctioning off art by a very special pair of artists.
Two elephants completed a painting with help from their keepers. Painting is a unique way for the elephants to stay stimulated, while also raising money for a good cause.
The painting will be raffled off, with the funds going directly to the Asian Elephant Conservation.
“This is a really unique work of art because not only is it painted by elephants, but it’s also painted by two different species,” Media Manager, Brea Schmidt said. “So, if you’re an elephant lover, this is your dream artwork.”
Public health hazard issued for Pillsbury Crossing
The raffle tickets are $5 each. The winner will be announced on August 10.
