MANHATTAN (KSNT) – The Riley County Police Department (RCPD) is warning residents of a scam where the individual claims to be a patrol officer.
According to the RCPD, multiple citizens have reported that scammers are calling them claiming to be “Patrol Officer Davenport” and requesting money for a warrant stemming from PPP loans taken out during the COVID pandemic.
The RCPD said their department doesn’t employ a Patrol Officer Davenport.
The RCPD says it will never request payment over the phone. If you receive scam calls similar to this you can call (785) 537-2112 to verify if an RCPD officer or employee tried calling.
