GEARY COUNTY (KSNT) – Kansas transportation officials report that a rural state highway is getting a bump in its maximum speed limit following a study.
Ashley Perez with the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) said in a press release on Aug. 19 that drivers on K-177 will now be able to go a little faster than they’re used to. She said KDOT is raising the speed limit on K-177 in Geary and Morris Counties from 60 mph to 65 mph.
KDOT conducted a speed study and sight distance review on the highway, which runs from north of Council Grove to I-70, and made the decision to increase the speed limit. This stretch of K-177 represents around 28 miles of highway, according to Google Maps.
