TOPEKA (KSNT) – A Topeka Walmart is switching up its front end area to better serve local shoppers.
Topekans may notice a few changes at the Walmart Supercenter located at 1301 Southwest 37th Street. Store staff are currently redesigning its front end service area where shoppers go when they’re ready to check out and head home.
Mark Rickel, a Walmart spokesman, told 27 News the store is undergoing some changes in its checkout area to improve the shopping experience for customers. Shoppers may notice the new layout of the place the next time they visit the store and go to the grocery or general merchandise (GM) areas.
“We’re always looking for ways to enhance the in-store experience, including checkout,” Rickel said. “Changes are made store-by-store, based on associate and customer feedback, shopping patterns, and business needs. At our SW 37th Street store, we’re upgrading the front end to better serve our customers. The new layout will feature self-checkout registers on both the grocery and GM sides, with more staffed registers in the center—giving customers the choice between self-checkout and traditional lanes.”
