DUBLIN, Ireland (KSNT) – ‘Farmageddon’ went international.
No. 17 Kansas State and No. 22 Iowa State met in Dublin, Ireland to open Big 12 play.
K-State rallied late in the game with 14 fourth quarter points, but it wasn’t meant to be, falling to the Cyclones 24-21 for a third straight loss in the rivalry.
“Bottom line we’re disappointed. We came here to win and expected to win,” K-State football head coach Chris Klieman said. “We have to go back and regroup and get ready for next Saturday.”
The big difference came at fourth downs. The Cyclones were perfect — converting 3-for-3. K-State, meanwhile, went 1-for-4 in those spots.
“They just made a couple of plays on fourth down, a couple of them were short and they made a couple of plays,” Klieman said. “We didn’t, and I would do the same thing again based on how the game was going and we were struggling to slow those guys down on fourth-and-one and a half.”

Despite the slow start, K-State quarterback Avery Johnson finished the day with 273 passing yards for two scores and rushed for another, accounting for all three of the Wildcats scores.
“They made the necessary plays that needed to be made tonight to win the game,” Johnson said. “Ball in my hand on fourth-and-one, I need to find a way to get a yard, keep that drive alive and not put our defense in a bad spot.”
Both teams coughed it up twice, but the Wildcats were hit with a big blow early. Running back Dylan Edwards played just one snap before leaving the game with an injury.
K-State heads back to Manhattan 0-1 in Big 12 play.
The home opener comes next Saturday against North Dakota at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
