JUNCTION CITY (KSNT) – Schools in Geary County are restricting bag policies for the 2025-2026 academic year at all athletic events and games.
Matthew Hoover with Geary County Schools USD 475 said in a press release on Aug. 25 there will be some new restrictions in place starting this fall for those attending games and athletic events at stadiums, gymnasiums and fields at Junction City High School. Hoover said the changes are being made to make these events safer for attendees and improve security.
Parents, friends, family members and others attending athletic events this year will need to follow a new clear bag policy which limits the size and type of bags permitted people can bring with them. Attendees will not be able to bring in backpacks, printed plastic bags, fanny packs, purses, reusable grocery totes, mesh or straw bags, duffle bags and large totes to events at Junction City High School.

Hoover said fans will be limited concerning what types of bags they can bring with them to sporting and athletics events. The following types of bags are allowed under the new rules:
- Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12x6x12.
- One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags.
- Small clutch bags. These cannot exceed 5.5×7.5 with or without a handle or strap.
- Some exceptions will be made for medically necessary items or diaper bags. These may be subject to search.
Attendees will also need to abide by several other rules when attending Blue Jay Athletic Events. These include the following:
- No re-entry after leaving the event without buying another ticket.
- All middle school students must bring their physical school ID to enter the game at the student price. If they don’t have a school ID, a student will have to pay the full adult price to enter.
- All USD 475 middle school students, in good standing, must buy and enter through the main gates. All USD 475 high school students, in good standing, must bring their school-issued ID to enter the game through their designated gates.
- All high school students will enter through the designated gate to buy and enter events. Students must have their physical school ID to enter the game at the student price. If no school ID is available, students will need to pay the adult price.
