DUBLIN (KSNT) – Mark and Anthony Johnson, Avery Johnson’s father and brother, issued a joint statement after a video of the two fighting went viral on social media.
On Sunday, the duo issued a joint statement apologizing for a fight that they said was caused by “senseless bickering.” The apology was shared on On3 Sports and reached over 1.8 million people as of Monday afternoon.
We sincerely apologize for our actions following yesterday’s football game in Ireland. Senseless bickering escalated into an unnecessary fight. We have resolved our differences and take full responsibility for our actions. We have apologized to our immediate and extended family, and now extend our apologies to Kansas State University, its alumni, and fans. We regret this incident, have learned from it, and are committed to ensuring it doesnt happen again. Please accept our deepest apologies

Ratioed Sports shared a video of the fight on its X account showing the two wrestling on the ground before the fight was broken up by passerbys.
The Big 12 quarterback helped bring home a Pop-Tarts Bowl victory at the end of his true freshman campaign and carries high expectations from the Wildcat football program. Avery set a new school record in 2024 with 25 touchdowns and has been named in the Maxwell and Davey O’Brien Award watch lists for 2025.
K-State Wildcats played Iowa State in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday, August 23 to start its 2025 campaign. Iowa State took the win 24-21. The next K-State college football matchup will be against North Dakota on Aug. 30 in Manhattan.
