GEARY COUNTY (KSNT) – State troopers busted a driver going nearly 40 mph over the speed limit last weekend, resulting in a hefty speeding ticket.
The Kansas Highway Patrol’s (KHP) Troop C posted to social media stating that a trooper spotted a speeding driver traveling west on I-70 around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, near where I-70 meets Highway 77. The trooper pulled the driver over for traveling at 112 mph in the 75 mph zone.

The KHP said the driver was in a Hyundai Sonata. The driver was traveling 37 mph over the speed limit, which amounted to a ticket of $408.
The KHP encourages drivers to follow the posted speed limit, especially during times when traffic loads are higher than usual. With the onset of the football season, many drivers may experience more vehicles on the road around the City of Manhattan.
“With another Kstate home football game coming up this Saturday, remember: game day excitement is fun, but arriving safely is more important than rushing.
Drive smart, watch your speed, and let the scoreboard do the rushing.”
