MANHATTAN (KSNT) – A Topeka-area electric company is expanding to Manhattan this year with the construction of a new facility that will bring additional jobs to the region.
Torgeson Electric Company, headquartered in Topeka, is looking to make a big investment in the Little Apple this year, according to the Greater Manhattan Economic Partnership. The company is planning to construct a new $5 million facility that is expected to bring around 25 jobs to the local area.
The Manhattan City Commission approved of the sale of 8.5 acres of land in the Manhattan Business Park to the electric company on Aug. 5. The new facility will be located near the Manhattan Regional Airport.

It will also lead to collaboration opportunities with Manhattan Area Technical College and career & technical education programs in local schools.”
Job opportunities in Manhattan are growing this year with investments from companies like Torgeson. Earlier this year, another Topeka-based company, PTMW Inc., announced it would be expanding to the Little Apple with a $14 million investment and adding in nearly 150 new jobs. Amazon is also looking to construct a new warehouse in the city.
