TOPEKA (KSNT) – Ghost Light Paranormal (GLP) is going to be conducting an investigation of Topeka Cemetery on Sept. 20 that’s open to the public.
GLP was founded by three friends in February to investigate how an employee at a theatre was injured in a strange accident. They allegedly found multiple spirits associate with the almost 100 year old building.

Their upcoming event is a public tour and ghost hunt at Topeka Cemetery. All proceeds go to benefit the cemetery, and the event provides the public an opportunity to get hands on during a real ghost investigation.
“We have never hunted at Topeka Cemetery,” said founder and investigator Scott Price. “We knew we could put a good benefit together for the cemetery, and we could get our name out there as well. The event will also be a good opportunity for those interested in the paranormal to participate in a ghost hunt.”
The Topeka Cemetery is also the perfect location for an investigation. Founded in 1859, the cemetery is the oldest in the state of Kansas, and is home to more that 35,000 residents from the Civil War to the present day.
It’s pawpaw season in Kansas! Here’s what to know
“Groups have investigated the cemetery before,” said cemetery manager Lisa Ford. “All the employees have seen or heard something. There’s been reports of Dr. Franklin Crane walking the grounds, children laughing and people vanishing.”
There are allegedly several hot spots in the cemetery. The Civil War area, pet cemetery and the office are all supposedly very active with the paranormal.
GLP is going to be guiding the public through a proper ghost hunt using some of the highest end equipment. You can expect to use:
Tap That Topeka director discusses 2025 beer festival
- Electromagnetic Field detectors to document changes in electromagnetic fields, something ghosts are said to disturb.
- Divining rods to ask spirits yes or no questions
- Thermal imaging equipment to capture apparitions on camera
- Spirit boxes to communicate with spirits that communicate on different radio frequencies
- Digital recorders to capture any electronic voice phenomena
- And more
“Investigations are just as much debunking as they are gathering evidence,” Price told 27 News. “We’ll whatever we can to find probable causes, which makes finding unexplained energy that much more exciting.”
The event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 6pm. Tickets are $20 and all proceeds go towards the Topeka Cemetery.
Kansas ticks to become more prevalent in September
GLP will be hosting another public investigation on Oct. 25 at the Topeka State Hospital, as well as conducting some private investigations in Iola, Atchison and more. The Topeka Cemetery will be hosting a Fall Tractor Festival on Sept. 13, and the Friends of Topeka Cemetery will be hosting a ghost tour on Oct 10.
