TOPEKA (KSNT) – Geary County School District Superintendent Reginald Eggleston joined the 27 News Morning Show to discuss an upcoming initiative, his nomination as superintendent of the year and district site council meetings.
Geary County School District is launching community meetings to discuss the Portrait of a Graduate initiative. Eggleston said the initiative is intended to help graduates entering the workforce.
“We’re going to start having some community meetings to talk about what are the attributes and the characteristics of a graduate who will leave us and go out into the workforce,” Eggleston said.

The school district will be seeking feedback from community members, including business and industry leaders, parents and staff to support students.
Eggleston also talked about his recent nomination as a Superintendent of the Year finalist. Joining Eggleston as a finalist is Dr. Jessica Dain of Piper USD 202 and Jamie Rumford of Scott County USD 466. The 2026 Kansas Superintendent of the Year will be announced on Monday, October 6.
“I’m humbled and very grateful for the opportunity to represent my school district and represent the state as well,” Eggleston said.
Eggleston talked about plans to hold district site council meetings. He said the meetings will give the district an opportunity to bring parents to the table to help share their thoughts.

“It gives principals an opportunity to share as well as the internal operations that are occurring inside the buildings,” Eggleston said. “It gives me as a superintendent, an opportunity to meet with the district site council and share what our vision, our goals, our priorities are and how we plan to accomplish those.”
Eggleston said the meetings are set to occur once a month. He said schools will determine the hours and that the meetings may be in the mornings, at lunch or in the afternoons.
