TOPEKA (KSNT) – A brand-new festival is coming to Topeka.
The first annual Kansas Honey Festival is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Old Prairie Town. It features honey-making demonstrations and presentations on pollination and beekeeping. Local honey vendors will also sell their products. The purpose of the festival is to remind the community of the important role bees play and enjoy the sweet treat the insects provide.

“Recently we’ve seen a downturn in the number of bees,” said Chris Curtis, the festival coordinator. “Part of this festival is to get people engaged with experts in the field and they can learn more about they can help the bee population.”
“We love to meet new customers,” said Courtney Simpson, Shoney Farm co-owner. “We just hope to spread kindness through our honey and through our interactions with other people.”
The festival is $3 per person and kids 12 and under are free.
