TOPEKA (KSNT) – Numerous residents and businesses were without power Monday in the Little Apple due to a power outage.
Around 2,000 people were caught up in an outage on Sept. 29 in the west Manhattan area, according to Evergy. The outage was first reported just after 10:30 a.m. and was fixed by 11:45 a.m. on the same day.
Evergy spokeswoman Courtney Lewis told 27 news that an equipment failure is to blame for the outage. She said Evergy workers identified the issue and made the necessary repairs.
The Riley County Police Department encouraged drivers in Manhattan to treat all intersections within the outage area as four-way stops. The outage area included major intersections such as Kimball Avenue and Browning Avenue, Claflin Road and Seth Child Road along with Anderson Avenue and Seth Child Road.
