TOPEKA (KSNT) – Tuesday marks the two-year anniversary of the deadly October 7th attack in Israel.
More than 1,200 people were killed when Hamas invaded the country and captured hostages. Since then, over 60,000 people have died in Gaza as Israel is at war with Hamas. Sunday night in Tel Aviv, thousands of people took to the streets protesting to end the war and bring the hostages home.
Temple Beth Sholom Rabbi, Sam Stern, says Jewish people around the world are looking for closure.

“It’s really been an opened wound,” Rabbi Stern said. “Both for Israel, but also for Jews around the world. There’s no closure until we’re able to both bring home the hostages that were taken, then end the war with the possibility for peace in the future.”
A commemoration of the two-year anniversary will take place at a temple in Overland Park on Thursday.
