HOLTON (KSNT) – The holiday shopping season is here, and one city in northeast Kansas is helping people save money while they’re shopping local.
The Holton and Jackson County City of Commerce has created a holiday shopping coupon book to help people save money this holiday season. This is the city’s third year of offering this $6 book that features retailers, merchants and restaurants all within Jackson County.
The money for the book just goes back into the book.
“It goes towards really us just kind of purchasing and creating the book,” said Ashlee York, executive director for the Chamber of Commerce. “It’s not necessarily a fundraiser for us. It’s more of the intention of the book. It really was just to get people to shop local early.”
Most of the expirations are for Dec. 31, but some go until early 2026.
Hours change soon at West Ridge Mall, here’s why
Holton has so many holiday events coming up where you can use the coupons, including early morning sales beginning at 6 a.m. on Dec. 12. The earlier you go, the better deals you will find.
The Holton Christmas home tours are from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 13. Tickets can be purchased on its website. Advanced tickets are $15, and day-of-tour tickets are $20.
The Parade of Lights will also be on Dec.13. Police and fire departments, school organizations along with many others will be lighting up Holton’s downtown square with floats to celebrate the holidays.
