TOPEKA (KSNT) — While some Topekans celebrated Thanksgiving, others tuned in to watch the Kansas City Chiefs play the Dallas Cowboys Thursday.
The Happy Basset Brewery, located south of Topeka, welcomed customers to enjoy the game this Thanksgiving, along with their fan-favorite beers on tap.
One friend group’s TV broke before kickoff, so they turned to Happy Basset for help.
“We came here for Thanksgiving, because our TV broke down,” William O’Connor said. “We’re just grateful that Happy Basset is open and was able to accommodate us, so it’s been a great time.”
“We just wanted to make sure we had a nice cozy homie feeling place, for everyone to come to,” Happy Basset general manager Heather Jones said. “Not everyone has a place to go on Thanksgiving day, so we just wanted to make sure we caught those people, have somewhere to go, nice little bartender to talk to, watch the football game, hang out on a day where you know is supposed to be fun.”
The Chiefs last played on Thanksgiving in 2006, but played on Black Friday last year.
