TOPEKA (KSNT) – Jeremiah Devine, a worship pastor for Topeka Bible Church (TBC) joined the 27 News Morning Show to talk about their beloved Christmas light show making a return.
Devine told 27 News about the unique holiday event.
“It’s a live event where our guests pull into the parking lot at our church and they tune their radios in their cars to our station and they watch our show, synchronize live Christmas lights,” Devine said. “And we have live musicians in the window.”
From a media advisory sent to 27 News by Teresa Jenkins with the TBC, “Thousands of synchronized lights dancing to live musical performances you can watch through the church windows—all from the comfort of your car. It’s completely free, and last year drew over 5,000 people from across northeast Kansas.”
A cold Thursday ahead but feeling warmer heading into the weekend
Devine told 27 News this year’s theme is Joy.
“So this year we’re going with joy, joy to the world,” Devine told us. “And so a lot of the songs will fit that message and how the birth of Christ brings joy to the world.”
27 News asked Devine how many people it takes to put this event on.
“Nightly, we have over 100 volunteers between the musicians and all the people helping in the parking lot, all the hospitality people,” Devine said. “So yeah, it brings a lot of us together and it requires a ton of work, but it’s a lot of fun.”
