TOPEKA (KSNT) – Local county commissioners are clearing the way for a new gas station to an area west of Topeka.
Shawnee County Commissioners approved the potential development of the new gas station and storage units during a meeting on Dec. 8. The area under consideration for the possible new gas station is just southwest or where Southwest 10th Avenue and Southwest Auburn Road near I-70.
The developer has several additional steps to take before the project is finalized. The commissioner’s decision on Dec. 8 clears the way for the project by making zoning changes. The developer will need to conduct a traffic study to ensure traffic will not back up on Auburn Road.
