TOPEKA (KSNT) – Many people gathered on Monday at the Kansas Statehouse in a show of support for our country’s veterans.
The nonprofit Wreaths Across America hosted the ceremony on Dec. 8. Its mission is to give people the opportunity to honor veterans by purchasing holiday wreaths in their memory.
“For me, I have 16 family members laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks, and so my family gets together and lays wreaths there,” said event coordinator Michelle Cebe. “Our veterans have done everything for us. We wouldn’t be where we are today without them; they deserve to be remembered and honored. We want people to remember why we have the freedoms that we have.”
A total of 68 Kansas cemeteries participate in the program. You can learn more about Wreaths Across America by clicking here.
