We asked Peete how RCPD is working to keep Aggieville safe in wake of the recent deadly shooting in nearby Lawrence, which is also a college town. The shooting left 18-year-old Aidan Knowles dead and another teen, 16-year-old Brady Clark, injured.
“We have a strong partnership with the Aggieville Business Association, which is comprised of the business owners a good amount of business owners in Aggieville especially the bars,” Peete said. “So we have a very strong communications platform back and forth, individuals of concern, individuals who may have been involved in disturbances or altercations at other places. So we keep an eye on that. We also have specific officers that are assigned, and we’re also investing in a lot of technology, camera technology in Aggieville.”
