The Kansas women’s basketball team (13-8, 3-6 Big 12) dominated K-State (11-10, 4-4 Big 12) 83-61 in round one of the Sunflower Showdown.
After a back-and-forth first quarter, the Jayhawks would outscore the Wildcats 25-11 in the second quarter to create some separation in the win.
The Wildcats hung around early thanks to Taryn Sides, who scored 14 points in the opening quarter, including four three-pointers. Sides would finish with a game-high 26 points.
Kansas was led by star freshman Jaliya Davis. She finished with 22 points on 7/8 shooting from the field.
Elle Evans scored 14 for the ‘Hawks while Lilly Meister and Regan Williams had 12 each.
The ‘Hawks had a massive 40 bench points in the win.
Kansas now hits the road on Thursday to take on No. 9 TCU.
K-State will host Colorado on Thursday.
