TOPEKA (KSNT) – Just because the snow stopped falling doesn’t mean the work is over for plowing crews in Topeka. Throughout the weekend, city and state crews were out plowing and treating roads, allowing essential workers to make it to work safely.
It wasn’t just government crews working around the clock; local businesses also stepped in to help residents stay compliant with city ordinances requiring sidewalks and driveways to be cleared.
One of those businesses is The Ground Guys in Topeka. Owner Ryan Myers said while his crews don’t typically work on roadways, he’s still keeping a close eye on current driving conditions around the city.

“I was on 24 and 75 earlier, and it was dry and very clear, and then we come on this, some of the side streets. Some are better than others,” said Myers. “I’ve seen the city crews out maintaining those, but there are some that are still needing some work done to them.”
Myers told 27 News he started work around 5 a.m. and plans to stay out until midnight, ensuring sidewalks and driveways are safe for people heading to work or school.
As cleanup efforts continue, residents are encouraged to bundle up, allow extra travel time, and remain cautious of road conditions, especially on side streets.
