TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Big 12 Conference announced that the conference football championship game would be moved to a Friday night.
The game is typically played on a Saturday, but will be played this year on Friday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. CT.
27 News asked both K-State Athletic Director Gene Taylor and Kansas Athletic Director Travis Goff their opinions on the change.
“I’m excited about it because if it works out right, we’re the only power conference to play on that day,” Taylor told 27 Sports. “I think a Friday night game will be pretty good too, and I’m looking forward to it.”
Goff expressed his excitement for the game to be played on Friday to help progress the league.
“In the Big 12, we’re proud to be an innovative league,” Goff said. “If that means being open to changing the date and playing on Friday and gives us our best chance to attract eyeballs and emphasize what’s going on in the Big 12, then we’re supportive of it.”
