OSAGE COUNTY (KSNT) – Three local deputies injured in a Carbondale shootout last year are officially back on duty this week.
Osage County Sheriff Chris Wells announced on Jan. 28 that three deputies injured in a shooting on Nov. 15, 2025 have returned to continue serving the community. These include Osage County Deputy Christian Moran, Cpl. Clayton Hartpence and K9 Deputy James Cason. Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Adam Ellis also sustained injuries during this shooting.

Wells said that, in the aftermath of the shooting, the sheriff’s office has received numerous gifts, cards, food and encouragement from members of the community. He said this outpouring of support has meant a lot to the sheriff’s office and the deputies who received injuries during the shooting.
