TOPEKA (KSNT) – Valentine’s Day is one week away, and people are getting their shopping done for their loved ones.
Topekans have plenty of options available to go shopping ahead of Valentine’s Day. Barb’s Country Barn and the Woodshed Event Center hosted a variety of vendors on Saturday, Feb. 7 to help people find what they need to make the upcoming holiday a day to remember.
Guests enjoyed drinks and food while shopping for goods like homemade candles, freeze-dried candy and jewelry, all from small businesses.
“Small businesses. You got to remember, it’s a backbone of our economy,” said local vendor Larry Brayton. “You don’t want to poo-poo the small business person because they have things that big box stores or big corporation stores, they can’t, they won’t handle it.”

“We like to be with people, and so we have a lot of them come in, our same people all the time,” said Barb’s Country Barn owner Barbara Burkhardt. “And we really enjoy it. You get to where you know so many people, and that’s what I enjoy the most.”
This is the fourth annual Valentine’s Sip and Shop event at the Woodshed in north Topeka, and the 22nd annual Valentine’s event for Barb’s Country Barn.
