SILVER LAKE (KSNT) – A dominant display on the mat from the Red Raiders.
The Wamego girls wrestling team dominated the Silver Lake Invitational on Saturday, taking first place with 156.5 points.
Wamego had three champions on the day in Peyton Brazzle (100 pounds), Nevaeh Beatty (110 pounds) and Leolyn Karnowski (155 pounds). Wamego also had four more girls finish in the top-6 in their respective weight class.
Rock Creek and Silver Lake took second and third, Holton and Rossville took sixth and seventh, and Nemaha Central and Marysville closed out the top-10 at eight and 10.
For the boys, Silver Lake took second behind ACCHS with 191.5 points. Paxton Willett took the 190-pound title with a 2-1 decision over Rock Creek’s Wade Rottinghaus. Silver Lake had three second-place finishers, two in third place, and five more boys to finish fourth through sixth.
