TOPEKA (KSNT) – USD 501 Superintendent Tiffany Anderson joined the 27 News Morning Show on Tuesday to talk about school snow days, Black History Month, upcoming spring break and more.
Anderson chatted about Topeka Public Schools’ partnership with Strengthening & Equipping Neighborhoods Together (SENT). She said the group recently shared it is gifting $5,000 to teachers at schools in east Topeka.
Anderson also touched on Black History Month and several upcoming events such as Girl Up and Man Up at Robinson Middle School. She said every school is doing something in February as part of Black History Month.
“We know there is not one month for any particular history,” Anderson said. “But this is one in which we highlight the diversity right here in Topeka and I’m so proud to be part of that.”
Some local parents may also be curious how USD 501’s school days will play into this year’s schedule. Anderson said the district may let students out earlier if no more winter weather interrupts the schedule for the rest of the 2025-2026 school year.

“With that great weather, hopefully snow’s over, but if it is over then we will get out of school a little earlier,” Anderson said. “We build in a number of snow days, almost a week of snow days so if we used all of our snow days, we’d get out on the 29th which is of May. If we don’t use all those snow days, then that day does reduce.”
Anderson encourages people to keep an eye on USD 501’s schedule for any updates regarding when students may be let out. You can check out the schedule by clicking here.
