POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY (KSNT) – Work crews will be replacing two bridges on a highway in Pottawatomie County later this month north of Emmett.
Kate Craft with the Kansas Department of Transportation said in a press release on Feb. 12 that workers will be replacing two bridges on K-63. The project is scheduled to start on Monday, Feb. 16 and is slated to wrap up by June 2027.
Craft said the bridges cross over Bartlett Creek and Union Pacific railroad tracks north of Emmett in Pottawatomie County. New bridges will be constructed next to the existing ones with traffic impacts not expected to be severe as work will take place on the shoulder of the road.
KDOT workers will be on-site during daylight hours Monday through Friday and Saturdays if needed to complete these projects. Hawkins Construction Co. based out of Omaha, Nebraska is the primary contractor for this $12.9 million project.
