POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY (KSNT) – State health officials have partially rescinded a boil water advisory in northeast Kansas following a major water main break this week.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment announced in a press release on Feb. 13 the boil water advisory issued for Pottawatomie County Rural Water District #4 is now rescinded. However, the boil water advisory for teh City of Delia in Jackson County remains in effect.
Jill Bronaugh with the KDHE said the advisory was issued due to a water main break in Pottawatomie County that cause a loss of pressure in part of the distribution system. A loss of pressure can lead to a drop in chlorine residuals and bacterial contamination.
Bronaugh said that lab tests of drinking water samples collected from Pottawatomie County Rural Water District #4 showed no evidence of bacteriological contamination. All other conditions that placed the water system at risk of contamination are now resolved, according to the KDHE.
