JACKSON COUNTY (KSNT) – A northeast Kansas family is in mourning after a local 18-year-old died as a result of a head-on highway crash earlier in February.
Heather Browning was killed in a crash that occurred at midnight on the night of Feb. 8-9 on Highway 75 in Jackson County near Netawaka. An approaching driver in a Pontiac Grand Prix heading south in the northbound lanes collided with Browning’s northbound Ford Fusion. The driver of the Grand Prix also died as a result of the crash.
Browning, a local from the Circleville and Goff communities, was a senior student at Jackson Heights High School, according to her obituary. She worked at a couple of local restaurants, participated in many sports such as track and volleyball and was taking coursework at Washburn Tech for welding.

Browning’s other passions included art, sunsets and sunflowers. She is survived by her father, mother, sister, two brothers and multiple other family members, according to her obituary.

A celebration of life is set for Browning on the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 17. She will be buried later that same day.
