TOPEKA (KSNT) – The preparations for Old Prairie Town’s annual tulip display are in full swing this month, and this year gives Topeka locals a lot to be excited for.
Tulips at Twilight has displayed over 40,000 blooming tulips alongside other lighted displays annually since 2017. Over 10,000 people visited last year’s event, and volunteers have been working and brainstorming new ways to make this year’s showing even better.
Even though the weather has been unpredictable, the tulips are supposed to be fine for viewing.
“All these displays are welded, sewn, painted and developed by our volunteer group and have always been such a labor of love for us and something we love to see every year,” said Ashley Gilfillan with Shawnee County Parks and Recreation. “We could not do it without the massive amount of volunteer hours that really come from this.”
