LYON COUNTY (KSNT) – The pilot of a small plane in northeast Kansas was forced into making an emergency landing Monday morning after a mechanical issue.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports the incident occurred shortly before 10 a.m. on Feb. 23 southwest of where KS-99 and Road 400 meet just south of the Wabaunsee-Lyon County line. Two people were flying in a Grumman American single engine plane when its propeller failed.
The pilot had to make an emergency landing after the propeller stopped working. The plane touched down in a corn field.
The KHP said the plane had two people inside: the pilot, a 41-year-old man from Defuniak Springs, Florida, and the passenger, a man in his 40s. Neither were injured and both were wearing seat belts at the time of the emergency landing.
