TOPEKA (KSNT) – A new in-season tournament is on the way.
Both Kansas and Kansas State women’s basketball teams will compete in ‘The Invitational’ beginning in the 2026-2027 season.
The tournament will be held in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This is the renewal of “The Invitational,” which the Sanford Pentagon has hosted twice previously.
“We are excited to take our team back to the Sanford Pentagon the next two years,” Kansas head coach Brandon Schneider said. “It is a terrific venue, and we will have a chance to compete against two Big Ten programs. We always set out to schedule strong non-conference games to help prepare our team for Big 12 play, and there’s no doubt that games against Nebraska and Minnesota will do that for us.”
Kansas will play Nebraska, and K-State will play Minnesota on Nov. 14. In 2027, the teams will alternate as Kansas will play Minnesota and K-State will play Nebraska.
Both teams are fighting for positioning with the Big 12 Tournament around the corner.
Kansas will host No. 20 Texas Tech on Wednesday and then will travel to Stillwater, Ok, to take on the Cowgirls in its final regular season game.
K-State will host Iowa State on Sunday in its final regular-season game.
