TOPEKA (KSNT)- Members from the local nonprofit Woolly Farms joined the Topeka Scarecrows at Landon Arena for some lessons in skating, passing and shooting.
Woolly Farms helps adults with disabilities and events like this give them the opportunity to engage with the community. One Scarecrow member is even a member of Woolly Farms.
“It means the world to them. This is huge. They feel like celebrities when they come out here, and these guys treat them like they’re on the red carpet and they’re out here pushing them around and making them feel like they’re everything and they’re having the time of their lives,” Director of Woolly Farms Jackie Gamez said.

“The community already does such a great job of supporting us, so it’s any time we could do something for them in return. It is a big deal just to see all the smiles on their faces. They like scoring goals a lot more than like skating around. But no, it’s pretty fun. We do it anytime,” said Topeka Scarecrows, Gordon Whalen.
The scarecrows will be playing back here at Stormont Vail Arena this weekend against the Baton Rouge Zydeco.
