TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library opened a new exhibition on Friday that features garments inspired by the art in the library.
The exhibition called “Runway Remix: Fashion in Focus,” started on Feb. 27 at the public library in the Alice C. Sabatini gallery. Seven artists developed garments that are inspired by some of the pieces featured in the library’s permanent art collection.
Runway Remix also features several events throughout March and in the first week of April that include activities about sewing patterns, fabric choices and even Japanese needlework techniques.

“We love textiles, we love those conversations and those artists, but we don’t get to feature them as much as we do say glass or ceramics,” Curator of Exhibitions for the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library Brittany Keegan said. “So, this was a way to really highlight those artists [and] highlight what they do.”
The “Runway Remix: Fashion in Focus” is running from Feb. 27 to March 17. For more information about the exhibition and the events, you can click here. The Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library is located at 1515 southwest 10th Ave.
