TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Topeka Rescue Mission is now becoming a one-stop shop for local people in need.
At a press conference on Monday, TRM announced that starting April 7, it will host the Compassion Impact Center at the Children’s Palace in North Topeka. With this new collaboration between Compassion Strategies and United Way of Kaw Valley, the organizations hope to be a place where people can come to meet all their needs in this brick-and-mortar setting.
“I think we are so hopeful that we all have the same heart of looking at the person that is in the midst of brokenness and some form,” said LaManda Cunningham, CEO of Topeka Rescue Mission. “And that this brick and mortar of services is going to provide one location for someone to come and to have barrier busted after barrier busted instead of spending all day or even weeks, sometimes trying to relocate to different agencies, trying to come up with the money to pay for certain services, they now can come to this place and the services are here for them to access.”
