TOPEKA (KSNT) – City officials say several streets will be closed in Topeka’s downtown area this coming weekend for the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Kimberly Qualls with the City of Topeka said that multiple streets will be shut down to accommodate the upcoming parade on Saturday, March 14. Local street closures along the route will start at 7 a.m. on the day of the parade.
The parade will start at Southwest 10th Street and South Kansas Avenue at noon and head north on South Kansas Avenue to Southwest Seventh Street. It will then turn west on Southwest Seventh Street and continue to Southwest Van Buren Street. The parade will end in the 600 block of Southwest Van Buren Street.

Qualls said there will be no parking available along the parade route starting at 3 a.m. on March 14. Vehicles parked along this route will be towed at the owner’s expense. Heartland Recovery, which can be reached at 785-232-1015, will be handling towing services. Streets that will be closed to parking in the downtown area include the following:
- Southwest Jackson Street from Southwest 12th Street to Southwest 10th Street
- Southwest 11th Street from Southwest Jackson Street to South Kansas Avenue
- South Kansas Avenue from Southwest 11th Street to Southwest Sixth Street
- Southwest Seventh Street from Southeast Quincy Street to Southwest Van Buren Street
- Southwest Van Buren Street from Southwest Seventh Street to Southwest Sixth Street
Downtown businesses will stay open throughout the parade and can be accessed by pedestrians during the event. People are encouraged to find parking outside the parade route or use downtown parking garages on March 13.
