TOPEKA (KSNT) – Topeka police arrested a man after he reportedly set himself on fire at the Law Enforcement Center on Thursday morning.
Kimberly Qualls with the City of Topeka said that a man entered the lobby area of the Topeka Law Enforcement Center at 320 South Kansas Avenue shortly before 10:15 a.m. on March 12 and set his clothes on fire. Personnel with the Topeka Fire Department, AMR and the TPD’s Behavioral Health Unit responded to the situation.
Qualls said medical personnel took the man to a local hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries. Police later arrested the 31-year-old Topeka man on charges of aggravated arson and criminal damage to property.
