TOPEKA (KSNT)- Topekan’s spent Saturday, March 21, with four-legged friends at Helping Hands Humane Society’s annual Kitty Karma Yoga.
This is the 10th year of the event, where anyone can participate in a yoga class. While spending time with cats at the shelter.
According to AP News, practicing yoga with animals can produce unexpected benefits for both humans and furry friends.

“Like a physical activity for the people there, kind of a stress relief and then the stress relief that comes with seeing animals petting animals,” said communications coordinator at Helping Hands Humane Society, Emi Griess. “There are scientific studies that show just petting an animal can lower your blood pressure. So we like to combine all of that into one activity at Kitty Karma.”
Four kittens and one cat in the class are looking for homes, and interactive events like these help encourage adoption.
