TOPEKA (KSNT) – Multiple cheer and dance teams will be coming to Topeka to compete this weekend as part of their national championships.
The Topeka Area Sports Commission (TASC), Baker University and Visit Topeka are welcoming the 10th Annual National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Competitive Cheer & Dance National Championships to the Stormont Vail Events Center this week. The championships will bring top collegiate cheer and dance teams from across the nation to Topeka as they compete against each other from March 27-28.
“Hosting this event is a testament to our city’s vibrant sports culture and our commitment to providing top-notch facilities and hospitality” said Mike Bell, executive director of TASC. “We are incredibly excited to welcome the NAIA Cheer and Dance National Championships to Topeka.”
TASC said that a total of 15 cheer teams and 12 dance teams will be competing in the upcoming championships. The athletes will showcase both school spirit and teamwork on the national stage.

“Baker University is honored and excited to be the NAIA supporting host for the 2026 and 2027 Cheer and Dance National Championships,” said Baker University Athletic Director Susan Decker. “As we work with Visit Topeka, we will strive to make this the best student-athlete experience possible.”
The NAIA selected the Capital City to serve as the venue for its championships in 2026 and 2027 two years ago. Both Visit Topeka and Baker University will serve as hosts for the competition.
