MARION COUNTY (KSNT) – State troopers report an Emporia local is dead following a crash in Marion County on Thursday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reports the crash happened just before 6 a.m. on March 26 on U.S. Highway 56 just east of where it meets K-256 Highway. A 2019 Chevrolet Silverado was heading west on U.S. 56 while a semi truck was heading east on the highway.
The KHP said the Chevrolet crossed the center line on the highway and hit the semi truck head-on. The Chevrolet came to a stop in the north ditch facing to the northwest while the semi truck overturned and blocked U.S. 56.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Gregory S. Campbell, 32, of Emporia, died as a result of the crash. The driver of the semi truck, a 51-year-old Longford man, had minor injuries.
