TOPEKA (KSNT) – City workers are enacting emergency repairs at a busy central Topeka intersection Friday.
Robert Bidwell with the City of Topeka announced on March 27 that workers are in the area of Southwest Topeka Boulevard and Southwest 17th Street for several emergency waterline repairs. This repair work is impacting northbound and southbound traffic on Topeka Boulevard and 17th Street.
- Northbound traffic – the outside northbound lane is closed on the south side of 17th Street. Northbound drivers are being shifted to the inside lane.
- Southbound traffic – both southbound lanes on the north side of 17th Street are closed. All southbound traffic is being shifted to the center lane and shifts back to the southbound lanes through the intersection. Drivers are currently unable to turn left onto eastbound 17th Street.

Bidwell said traffic on 17th Street is not expected to be impacted by this work. All lanes are anticipated to reopen to traffic after temporary pavement repairs are made in about a week’s time.
