TOPEKA (KSNT)- A Topeka tradition has announced its 93rd year of celebrating Hispanic culture and community with northeast Kansas.
The Fiesta Topeka began in 1933 as a way to celebrate and share their culture with the community has flourished into a fan favorite yearly event that is a staple in Topeka. Its most anticipated new component to this year’s festival is a new app — Fiesta Connect. The app will feature events, volunteer opportunities and royalty court updates.
“The main thing that we’re so excited about is our new app. You’ll be able to get on there to find out when special things are happening at the fiesta,” said Fiesta Topeka publicity co-chair Renee Franklin. “It’s a wonderful way to also sign up for volunteerism. So that is something we’ve never done before.”
Generations of families have participated in this festival, as the Fiesta Royalty Coronation Ball is one of the key components of the tradition. This year’s two competitors both had multiple siblings participate in the competition and wanted to follow in their footsteps.

“I just seen like all the people in the community helping out the parish. It was exciting, and I was just like, you know what? Let me run,” said royalty candidate Gabriella Gonzalez. “It’s special to me because it brings together community, and it really unites everybody. And I feel like we can just all appreciate the culture in the air,” said royalty candidate Joselinee Morales Aquino.
The five-day festival will be held from July 14-18, 2026, at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in east Topeka.
