LAWRENCE (KSNT) – Dylan Edwards is loving being a Jayhawk.
The Kansas State transfer and Derby native is fitting right in with the Kansas football team and is even happier to be back on the field.
“I feel great,” Edwards said. “I’m ready to play, I’m ready to play right now. I’m just happy, that’s something that is different. I’m very happy here.”
Edwards was injured in K-State’s opening game against Iowa State in Ireland and suffered an injury.
The junior running back would play only three more games before redshirting the remainder of the 2025-2026 season. He finished the year with 205 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
“The guys took me in with open arms,” Edwards said. “I got in here and everyone was really nice. They are ready to work with me and I’m ready to work with them. That’s pretty much all mindset has been on.”
On Thursday, head coach Lance Leipold said his offensive staff will be able to be creative with the skills Edwards offers.
“He’s been what we wanted him and expected him to be as a football player,” associate head coach Andy Kotelnicki said. “What I probably didn’t know was his competitiveness. He’s kind of a quieter, more reserved individual, but when he gets on the football field, he’ll get going.”
“He told me to come here and be myself and play fast,” Edwards said. “They haven’t put me in a box. Not one time.”
Kansas opens the 2026 season on Sept. 4 against LIU.
