FORT RILEY (KSNT) – Fort Riley’s 1st Infantry Division is honoring a Medal of Honor recipient Tuesday with the dedication of its new Hall of Heroes.
The 1st Infantry Division, also known as the Big Red One, held a ceremony to dedicate its new Hall of Heroes for fallen soldiers on the afternoon of 3 p.m. on March 31. The Hall of Heroes honors the service of 97 soldiers.
Commander Sergeant Major Terry P. Richardson, a Medal of Honor recipient who served in the 1st Infantry Division, also received some special recognition on Tuesday. He was awarded the Medal of Honor on March 3.
“Their moto is no mission too difficult, no sacrifice too great, duty first,” Richardson said. “And this is duty first right here, taking care of those who have taken care of their country.”
“We are letting them know, you are not alone, we are with you, of course we don’t know how they feel or what they are going through, but we are here walking with them,” said Yvonne Arguijo, Survivor Outreach Services coordinator. “And will never forget, their legacies will be preserved in the Hall of Hero’s forever.”
