TOPEKA (KSNT) – Hundreds of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas employees spent Wednesday giving back to communities across the state.
Around 200 employees gathered at the company’s Topeka campus to package meals as part of their United Way giving campaign. The effort focused on providing both financial support and hands-on volunteer work.
Working alongside the United Way of Kaw Valley and The Outreach Program, employees packed about 40,000 meals that will be distributed to local nonprofits serving Kansas families in need. Organizers said the goal is to make a direct impact by helping get food to those who need it most, while also giving employees a chance to volunteer their time.

“This week is our United Way giving campaign, and we want to give employees the opportunity not just to give resources, but to give their time,” said Rebbecca Witte, manager of community relations at BCBSKS. “These meals will go out to families across Kansas who need them most.”
Additional employees in Wichita also participated, packing another 10,000 meals, bringing the statewide total to about 50,000. The meals will be distributed through local nonprofit partners, helping reach communities across Kansas.
