JUNCTION CITY (KSNT) – Kansas transportation authorities will be closing part of I-70 in Junction City later this month for a bridge replacement project.
Ashley Perez with the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) announced in a press release that workers will be temporarily closing part of I-70 at J-Hill Road in Geary County. Closures will occur overnight on Monday, April 6 and Wednesday, April 8.

Perez said the closures are needed as workers place bridge girders and continue to make progress on the bridge replacement project in the area. Additional closure details are below:
- Starting at 7 p.m. on April 6 – westbound I-70 will close and reopen at 7 a.m. on April 7.
- Starting at 7 p.m. on April 8 – eastbound I-70 will close and reopen at 7 a.m. on April 9.
Drivers will be diverted up and down the nearby interchange ramps with local traffic being unable to use I-70 at exit 299/J-Hill Road, according to KDOT. King Construction is the primary contractor for this bridge replacement project which is set to be finished by July this year.
